He's here!!
Finally!!
Introducing our awesome little boy: William Warner Player!
Here's his story:
Since we live in Monticello and don't have an OB/GYN I decided to use a doctor in Payson for this little guy. His name is Cameron Anderson and he was such a great doc. He knew how far I came every time so he would spread my appointments out and didn't make me come as often. I didn't mind the drive or the time alone but saving on gas was a huge blessing so we were grateful.
We were all worried I might go into labor on my own (funny because I really don't think it would happen early like we feared) so we scheduled an induction for a little less than a week before my due date. I have a really hard time progressing so I think now that this was unnecessary but better safe than sorry. We scheduled the start of the induction for Thursday January 29. I was bummed he wouldn't be born in February but there really wasn't any way around it. We had to check in at the hospital at 8pm. We left Monticello that afternoon and met up with Grandpa in Price to give him Elsa. Then we headed to Payson. We had to do a little shopping and we wanted to take the girlies to dinner so we had to give ourselves enough time for that. We went to dinner at a little Italian restaurant in Provo. It was seriously tasty. The girls even loved it and ate all of Daddy's shrimp. They had the most delicious desserts so we had to get one.

Alice only wanted the chocolate part and thought this was the best way to get at it.
After dinner it was time to head to the hospital.
They checked us into our room and now the waiting started.
Auntie Amy, Jane, MaeMae, and Gran came up to watch the girls while we were in the hospital so they picked them up from the hospital. It made the girls a little nervous to see Mommy in a hospital gown and on the hospital bed but they did okay.
They started me on a drug that prepped my cervix at around 9pm. I was dilated to a 1.5 so we weren't moving very quickly. They also set up a PIC line so I would be ready for fluids if needed. The first nurse poked me 3 times!! and couldn't get a vein. She finally called a different nurse who got it in right away. They always have a hard time finding my veins but now I know to tell them to check my left arm. Apparently there's a great vein there. =) We tried to sleep knowing that we had a long night and day ahead of us but it wasn't very easy. They checked me a few hours later and I was only at a 2 so they gave me the second dose of the drug. I started having contractions so around 1am I decided to get the epidural. When the nurse esthetician came in I was nervous right away. He was a little guy who didn't seem very confident and so didn't make me feel very confident either. He took a really long time to finally get the epidural in and it hurt a lot and for some reason my left leg was numb and my right wasn't. It wasn't a great experience. It did stop the contractions though so that was good. As soon as he walked out I said to Kirk that he made me nervous. I had no idea how right I was! Kirk and I slept for about 2.5 hours then I woke up with major contractions. I kept pushing the button to increase the medicine but it wasn't working. It only lets more medicine in every 11 minutes and I was watching the clock like a hawk to get every 11 minutes. It was doing nothing! I was in so much pain. I kept telling the nurses that it wasn't working and it seemed like forever when they finally called the guy back. He came in and increased the medicine but that still did nothing. By now I was in tears with pain and nobody seemed to be moving fast enough to get it fixed. I even kept puking because it hurt so bad. Finally around 5 they called an actual anesthesiologist. He came in and told me we had to do the epidural again. I was afraid of that but after it was done I was so grateful. He also told us that the other guy did a spinal/epidural combo. I was a little upset since they didn't even tell me he was doing a spinal. The spinal was the thing that actually worked and let us sleep for those 2.5 hours. The epidural was never in all the way so it never was working. The medicine was just gathering up under my skin and not doing anything. I could have killed the guy. My back was all swollen with the fluid and everything. I knew something was off!
The anesthesiologist was an Aggie so Kirk is pretty sure that's why he was successful. I told him that if he took the pain away then he would be my new favorite person. He is definitely my new favorite person. =) They didn't have to give me the third dose of the medicine since I was dilated enough so they started the pitocin. The rest of the morning was spent waiting and getting ready for the birth. Doctor Anderson was there for most of the process and all of the pushing. So different than with Heidi when Harter walked in to catch her and that was really it. The boy was face up so I was having a really hard time getting him over my pelvic bone. Anderson kept turning him but Warner would just flip back over. I puked a few times during this part too which I didn't do with the girls so that was new. I was completely numb (which I really hated and didn't want) so it was really difficult to know if my pushing was even doing anything. The nurses kept telling me I was doing a great job and I wanted to scream at them. I didn't want to hear 'good job' until the baby was here! I pushed for a little over an hour and it was very hard. I'm not sure I've ever been so exhausted or worked so hard. It was seriously tough. And my feet and ankles were swollen to HUGE! I've never swollen before so that was funny. They finally had to suction him out because he just wouldn't come.
Finally the baby came and I just cried from being so tired.
But he was here and he was perfect!!
I wanted to have him right away but they said he wasn't crying enough so they took him to the warmer. I kept saying I want my baby but the pediatric nurse wouldn't listen and was moving so slowly with everything she was doing. I was so mad. She lost the diaper and took forever to clean him. It felt like forever before I could hold him. Thankfully she finally was off shift and didn't ever come back.
We seriously love this boy!!
Born at 12:13pm. 8 lbs 4 oz and 21 inches of perfection and awesomeness.
The girls came after we settled for a minute. It was seriously love at first sight. They couldn't get enough of him. Heidi would have held that boy the whole day. She actually did sit on the couch for a little over an hour and held him and was in heaven. I slept and Alice was taking a nap so it was just Kirk and Heidi and she held Warner the whole time.

Warner got lots of visitors during our stay in the hospital.
Grandma and Grandpa came too but I didn't get a photo of them. =(
Warner was also jaundice so we had to stay in the hospital for an extra night. Saturday night was terrible. They took him away into the nursery (which I don't usually let my babies go to without Kirk right with them) and would bring him back every three hours to eat. He had to stay in the lights to get his bilirubin down. I hated it! I seriously wanted to just hold my baby for longer than 30 minutes every three hours. I know he had to do it to be healthy but that didn't make it easier.
The girls went home to Monticello with Grandpa and Gran on Saturday and we finally followed on Sunday. The nurses and hospital were really great to us and I'm so grateful they made our stay wonderful but I was glad to be home.
Going home!
Player 3 has entered the game.
And his sisters were so happy to have him home.
We love you Warner and we are so glad you are in our family!
