Cowgirl~8/26/13

Every since the rodeo Heidi wants to wear 'her' cowboy hat all the time.
I guess we should buy her one that actually fits.

We live in the wilderness~8/25/13

We went for a drive up the mountain.
We saw wild turkeys, tons of deer and even some elk.
We love living in such beauty.

Gollum~8/25/13

Alice doesn't like the feel of the grass.
We used to be able to set her on a blanket and we knew she wouldn't leave it because she hated the grass so much. She got over that but still isn't a huge fan.
She has come up with a better way...

As little skin as possible touching the grass at one time.
I cannot get enough of her.

10 months!~8/25/13

We seriously love this babe!
Alice is 10 months old today.
She is getting so big.
She is so close to walking but won't actually do it.
She walks along the couch great.
Has been pulling herself up for awhile.
And she can walk with her little walking toy but won't do it alone.
Some people think I'm crazy but I LOVE when they start walking. It is one of my favorite times.
She still doesn't say any words but jabbers a lot.
She has started yelling which is funny, except at 2 in the morning.
She doesn't totally sleep through the night yet but only nurses once at about 4am. Usually if she wakes up she is okay if you just stick her bink back in her mouth.
She still takes 3 naps a day! One in the morning at about 8:30 or 9 for about an hour. Then again at noon for 1-2 hours and her last one at 4 for about an hour.
Then she goes to bed at 6:30 or 7.
She is pretty easy to put to bed as long as I nurse her.
She loves to cuddle with the swaddle blanket while she's sleeping.
She loves baby dolls.
She LOVES her big sister and is mesmerized by her.
She is doing great with eating.
She loves other babies. She doesn't know how to act with them so mostly she open mouth kisses them or tackles them.
She loves to throw stuff on the floor.
She'll throw anything you give her if she's mad.
She loves her Daddy but Mommy still trumps him.
Mommy ruins everything when she walks into her sight.
She doesn't mind the grass and loves to eat it.
Everything goes in her mouth!
She makes really awesome faces especially when she fake cries.
She fake cries.
She loves to play peek-a-boo with the for sale sign in our yard.
She does awesome in the jogging stroller/bike trailer.
She loves to be outside.
She is almost always happy unless she is tired or hungry.
She is very smiley.
She loves cats and dogs.
We moved her to her own room and she's doing great in the crib.
She loves to look at the baby animals in the books.
We are in love with this little girl.
She has made our lives so happy.
We are excited to watch her grow everyday.
Love you Alice Lue!

Daddy/Daughter time~8/24/13

Saturday was a great day for Heidi and Daddy.
They spent a lot of time together which totally made Heidi's day.
First, Daddy made heart pancakes.
Then they went geo-caching.
And then, enjoyed this view.

Feeding herself~8/19/13

I let Alice feed herself.
She loved it although I don't think she got any actually in her mouth.

Adventure Race Snowbird~8/17/13

When we moved to Monticello a few people found out I run so I was incorporated into a running group. I'm excited about it. It will definitely help me meet people.
They were signed up to do the Snowbird Adventure Race so I joined in.
None of us really knew what we were getting ourselves into.
We practiced map reading and using a compass before the race but didn't really neither either one.
We were told that we would be in the snowbird area the whole race but that didn't happen either.
Kirk, the girls and I left Monticello really late on Friday night because of car issues so I missed the registration. Someone on my team was able to register for me, luckily.
We made it to Heber really late and only got about 3 hours of sleep with Alice being crazy.
Kirk woke up early with me and took me to the race start.
It ended up starting at Jordan High in Sandy. We ran through sand for 5.5 miles. Then we got to our bikes and rode ALL THE WAY TO SNOWBIRD!!! That's all the way up Little Cottonwood Canyon, people. They compare this climb to one of the hardest on the Tour De France. Holy Crap it was hard!
About halfway through I started getting really lightheaded and my eyes started going black. I stopped and my team made me a little bed in the gravel. Finally I decided that I should stop. It seemed foolish to continue when I was feeling so crappy. I'm pretty sure my body was just exhausted. I hardly had any sleep the couple nights before and no sleep the night before.
I called Kirk and had him come pick me up. He was in Heber so my team wouldn't leave me. They called the race officials and had them rescue me.
They told me I could finish the race but I know my body, especially in these endurance situations, and it was done. I don't think it would have been smart to push it more.
Kirk came and picked me up and we went back to Heber after I had a Big, Juicy hamburger.
We just relaxed the rest of Saturday then went home that night through Emery County.
It was a great trip and I'm glad I got to meet some new ladies.
I can't wait til the next race.
Hopefully it will be after a better night's sleep.
