Horsing Around~9/7/15

Mason and Elise Livingston were driving through Monticello so they stopped by for a visit.
It was so fun to see them and just made us wish we lived closer. Heidi and Alice really got along great with their kids. Especially Audrey.
Audrey was in heaven on Desi.

Gran's 70!!!!!~9/5/15

We drove to Logandale this weekend to be there for Gran's 70th birthday.
It was so fun to see everyone.
On the way we stopped at Home Depot in Richfield to buy a few things for the house and they just happened to be doing there kid craft so we joined in.
The girls loved it.

Gran wanted a three-wheel bike so we all chipped in and bought her one.
She crashed into a lot of stuff at first but she has the hang of it now.

Child's Eye View~9/4/15

The girls are really into taking pictures these days.
I think they are so stinking cute!

Peeping Tom~9/1/15

Sometimes out of the corner of my eye I see this at my bedroom window.
I have a small heart attack every time.

Rain, Rain, Go Away!~8/31/15

Today we had quite the rain storm.
I'm talking torrential.
Pouring.
Cats and dogs.
All of that.
Now normally I love the rain. Seriously love. But today the rain was not my friend. In fact, we are fighting. It's going to take a lot of kissing up for rain to be back on my good side.
Here's the story:
It was raining like crazy. (See above)
We have a drain (Don't get me started on the drain. Such a stupid idea by our contractor. But I digress)
The drain is right by our front door and has flooded in the past so when the rain was coming down I thought I should probably make sure it was clear of debris so to avoid the flood in my furnace room.
Right before I went to check the drain I checked in the furnace room to make sure it wasn't already full of water.
It wasn't. Phew.
I cleared only a small amount of debris from the drain and thought I was good. 10 minutes later I checked the furnace room again and can you say swimming pool. The gross muddy, dirty, furnace roomy type of swimming pool. There was at least 6 inches of water down there and it was still coming. Of course I was alone at this time so I sat the kids in front of a TV show and grabbed the shop vac. Now, I don't know about you but I can really only lift the shop vac if it is only about a third of the way full. So this was going to take me A LONG TIME. Also, I had to lug the 'full' shop vac across our brand new carpet in the family room to get it outside to dump. I text Kirk to tell him what was going on in hopes that he would be able to rush home and help me but that didn't work. What did work was that he called our contractor and told him what was going on and Eric rushed right over.
Bless him! Bless him!
He finished up a lot more quickly than I could have since he could fill the whole shop vac before dumping. It was seriously such a relief that he came over.
Bad day? Yes. Worst day ever? Not yet. But just wait.
Thinking we were out of the woods I went about my day. About an hour later I checked again and what to my wandering eyes did appear?
Well it wasn't Santa Claus.
The dang furnace room was flooded. Again.
So I set about cleaning it out yet again. This time Kirk came home so that was awesome.
Kirk filled the shop vac while I waited outside (Yes, it was still pouring.) and did the dumping.
Freezing. Soaked. Dirty. It was a riot. (Insert sarcasm)
We finally got it all out and for a moment the rain let up.
We were able to inspect the drain and discovered the problem.
This drain has a hole on each side so that you can attach the pipe to either side. The idea is to plug the side you aren't using so the water is directed the correct way.
Simple right? You'd think.
Our genius construction crew forgot to plug up the one side so the water was able to go directly into my basement. Favorite labor crew ever.
Thankfully we were able to get it fixed before the rain started again and it has since held up very well.
I guess we will one day look back at this experience and laugh but until then rain and I will remain broken up.

Mr. Carpenter~8/29/15

Kirk built me some shelves for my pantry.
I'm so excited!!
I finally have a pantry!

Heidi's First Haircut~8/27/15

Today Heidi had her first haircut.
I would have just left it but the ends were getting a little crazy and tangled. She was excited because she got to sit in the big girl hair cutting chair.
Before we went I treated the girls to a little Maverik for lunch. We ate outside and the girls loved having the picnic.

She did such a great job sitting still and her hair is so pretty now. I thought I took an after shot but apparently not. It lays so nicely now though.
Almost 5 and finally got her first haircut. That's what happens when you have such beautiful hair.
