This year for our anniversary and Kirk's birthday we decided to take a little trip to Salt Lake as a family. A day or so before we left Kirk surprised me and told me that he had arranged for Heidi to stay with his parents through the weekend so it would be just us. I was so excited! This would be our first time leaving Heidi overnight with anyone but it was to awesome.
We met Kirk's Dad in Spanish Fork and handed off the babe on Friday.
When we got to Salt Lake we checked into our hotel, the Hilton downtown (so nice), then headed to the temple to do a session there. The Salt Lake temple is so beautiful. The session is a lot longer because there are a ton of people in each one and it is live so that was a fun experience.
After the temple we headed off to Kirk's mission reunion. Meeting some of his mission buddies and the president and his wife was so fun. He had a really good time catching up with them. On the way home we stopped at Del Taco to grab something to eat then went back to the hotel.
The next day we woke up and went to the new City Creek downtown. It was awesome. We ate at Chik-fila for breakfast (which I never would complain about) and then just walked around the shops for awhile. General Conference was in session so the City Creek wasn't too crowded. I was so excited to get to H&M and found the same glasses I bought in Germany that I broke so that was amazing!
We walked around temple square some and around downtown then headed to a little German Cafe for lunch. Then we went to a movie for the first time since Heidi was born. We watched Hunger Games and it did not disappoint.
We walked around that mall for awhile and did a little shopping then decided to meet up with Brady for a sushi dinner.
We walked around the mall a little more then said goodbye to Brady and headed back on the tracks toward downtown. We stopped and got some ice cream and went to the fanciest grocery store ever (Harmon's downtown) and bought stuff for breakfast the next day then went back to the hotel for the night.
Sunday we checked out of the hotel and drove through Heber on our way to pick up Heidi. It was nice to see Kirk's grandparents and good to go to breakfast with them too.
Then we picked Heidi up in Emery and headed home.
It was such an amazing weekend and we had so much fun!
We are so grateful to Kirk's parents for taking Heidi for us and letting us have that time together.
The temple was very pretty with all the flowers in bloom.
Eating German food for lunch. Yummy.
