Birthday Sunday

Ok so Sunday was very uneventful in birthday week. I also had to teach relief society which always makes me super nervous. I don't think I should have to teach on my own birthday weekend. Just saying. Really it went fine. For dinner we had a great roast and then watched the D-U-M-B-E-S-T movie on the planet. Seriously. I think it was called Shadow Heart. Stew-Pud. We did get a good laugh out of it though.

And The Wonders Continue!

I realize my birthday isn't until Tuesday but who wouldn't want to celebrate all weekend long?! And Kirk is so great to go along with me on my immature celebrations. Saturday the birthday weekend carried on. We were out doing a little shopping for the house and the jeep when I had a sudden craving for a treat. Granted these sudden cravings aren't very unusual for me since treats are my main food group but still. We thought about getting some ice cream but then we decided to go a little on the healthy side and get a fresh fruit smoothie from these guys:

Mmm...mmm.

The rest of the day was spent on our home improvement projects. Kirk and Brady worked on Kirk's jeep and it runs like a dream now and I painted. All we had left to paint in the house were the bathrooms and I'm nearly done with them now. It will be so great to get that out of the way. I also stained a curtain rod to hang in our front room to showcase the quilt Kirk's grandma gave us. I have decided that staining wood is super easy and I want that to be my project all the time.

Saturday night we went out to eat with Brady and Shanda to the RoadRunner. It was very tasty and they even out a candle in the brownie sundae we ordered. However, it was not free which was very disappointing. =)

Best Birthday Surprise

While I was at work on Friday I got a text from Kirk asking what time I was going to get off. I told him I would probably be getting off early but he needed to know exact time. He told me to let him know the moment I walked out of my office. Before I even got into my car.

I LOVE SURPRISES!!
Obviously I did as Kirk asked and was told to get off on the Spring Mountain exit and park at the Palazzo Casino. I was so in the dark. I had no idea what we would be doing there. I thought perhaps we were meeting Brady ad Shanda for dinner since Shanda works there. We met in the parking lot and walked to the elevators to makee our journey into the casino. If you have been to the Palazzo you may have noticed that they play Phantom of the Opera music in the elevators since that's their show. As we were riding up the elevator, listening to the lovely Phantom, Kirk asked if we should go see Phantom of the Opera that night. I answered yes as I would have any day that question was put forth. Then I caught on (way faster than the honeymoon secret).
Phantom of the Opera!
That was my surprise. We were only there right after work so we could buy the ticket since we needed both of our student I.D.'s for the student tickets that were only $34!

I snapped this picture as the woman seating everyone was yelling at me that pictures weren't allowed to be taken in the theater at any time to which I very politely ignored. The show was amazing. I absolutely loved it! Best birthday surprise ever. After the show we decided to go to the Bellagio and see the gardens and the fountains.

Apparently this lovely decor was inspired by Chinese New Year and the year of the tiger. Very Cool.

I don't usually like to stop strangers on the street and ask them to take my picture so Kirk and I have loads of photos taken in the very same pose. Oh well. At least we document life, even if it is close up. =)

Thanks Kirky for an awesome birthday present. You're amazing.

Birthday Adventures

Ok so my birthday isn't until the 19th but since we're having a long holiday weekend my birthday weekend starts a little early. The first birthday wonder were these babies.

Sour Patch Kids

I really have been craving Sour Patch Kids for weeks. My mom and I went to the gas station after lunch and this was my treat. Childish, I know but thus starts birthday 2010.

If I Were You

I love this girl. Kasey Chambers. Her music makes me so happy (even though a lot of it is of the melancholy nature). Seriously though people. Lend her your ear. It is well worth it.
if i were good
i'd tell everyone i know
if i was free
i wouldn't be so keen to go
if i was wrong
i would take it like a man
if i was smart
i would get out while i can
if i was broken
i would probably let it be
if i was dying
i wouldn't go out quietly
if i was lost
well my heart would feel the same
if i was honest
i would probably be ashamed
but if i were you
i would notice me
if i were you
i would wait for me
if i were you
i would easily hold me and say
it's all gonna be OK
if i was rich
i would spend it on my own
if i was dignified
i'd only smoke at home
if i was dark
i would only dress in black
if i was chosen
i would gladly give it back
it's not for you to judge
from all this kind of stuff
i'm only half of what you see
Awesome!

Shooting and the Star Moment of the Weekend

In the afternoon on new year's day we decided to take the guns out shooting. Kirk was excited to try out his new .45.
Dayna

Kirk's mom, Kim. She's a pro!

Me. I apparently believe that leaning back while shooting gives you the most stability. I was corrected in this assumption. =)

Kirky.

We did some skeet shooting as well. Kirk's dad missed one I think. And I didn't hit one which I think is just as equally impressive. =)
Now comes the most memorable moment of the weekend. Kirk and I were out taking pictures around his Dad's yard. We found the rope swing and Kirk decided to give it a try. We weren't sure if it would hold him...
...And it didn't. And his butt felt it.
