Celebrating Anniversary and Birthday ~3/30 -4/1/12

This year for our anniversary and Kirk's birthday we decided to take a little trip to Salt Lake as a family. A day or so before we left Kirk surprised me and told me that he had arranged for Heidi to stay with his parents through the weekend so it would be just us. I was so excited! This would be our first time leaving Heidi overnight with anyone but it was to awesome.
We met Kirk's Dad in Spanish Fork and handed off the babe on Friday.
When we got to Salt Lake we checked into our hotel, the Hilton downtown (so nice), then headed to the temple to do a session there. The Salt Lake temple is so beautiful. The session is a lot longer because there are a ton of people in each one and it is live so that was a fun experience.
After the temple we headed off to Kirk's mission reunion. Meeting some of his mission buddies and the president and his wife was so fun. He had a really good time catching up with them. On the way home we stopped at Del Taco to grab something to eat then went back to the hotel.
The next day we woke up and went to the new City Creek downtown. It was awesome. We ate at Chik-fila for breakfast (which I never would complain about) and then just walked around the shops for awhile. General Conference was in session so the City Creek wasn't too crowded. I was so excited to get to H&M and found the same glasses I bought in Germany that I broke so that was amazing!
We walked around temple square some and around downtown then headed to a little German Cafe for lunch. Then we went to a movie for the first time since Heidi was born. We watched Hunger Games and it did not disappoint.
We walked around that mall for awhile and did a little shopping then decided to meet up with Brady for a sushi dinner.
We walked around the mall a little more then said goodbye to Brady and headed back on the tracks toward downtown. We stopped and got some ice cream and went to the fanciest grocery store ever (Harmon's downtown) and bought stuff for breakfast the next day then went back to the hotel for the night.
Sunday we checked out of the hotel and drove through Heber on our way to pick up Heidi. It was nice to see Kirk's grandparents and good to go to breakfast with them too.
Then we picked Heidi up in Emery and headed home.
It was such an amazing weekend and we had so much fun!
We are so grateful to Kirk's parents for taking Heidi for us and letting us have that time together.

The temple was very pretty with all the flowers in bloom.

Eating German food for lunch. Yummy.

Easter Egg Hunt #1~ 3/29/12

First of all I have to say Happy Birthday to Kirky!!!!!
Today while Daddy was at work, Heidi and I went to the park to have an Easter Egg hunt with the Elementary school. It was so fun and Heidi loved finding the eggs.
There wasn't much in the eggs that she could eat since she's too young still but she still had a great time.

One of the little girls in our ward, Ashlyn Bleak, helped Heidi find the eggs.

Bad news and 3 years!!! ~ 3/26/12

This morning I left my phone in my room and went about the morning. After I put Heidi to bed I checked the phone and had a text from Emily. The text said my dad was headed to the hospital. He woke up with serious pain and thought his hernia had burst and would have to have surgery. There was a lot of worry and phone calls made between all the family to get all the information to everyone. Mark and Mom stayed with Dad until his surgery. I finally decided that I needed to go to Vegas and be with them so I called Kirk and he agreed so Heidi and I jumped in the car and set off. I was feeling pretty sick with the pregnancy but I think my adrenaline kicked in and helped me feel better. They figured out that he had a perforated bowel. Dad called all of us before he went in to surgery to say goodbye (just in case) which was kinda scary. He wasn't thinking very positively so the rest of us had to do that for him.
By the time Heidi and I made it to the hospital he was out of surgery but everyone was still waiting in the lobby to see him. He was really groggy because of the anesthetic so he needed some time to relax.
We still haven't told anyone that we are pregnant so feeling sick and being starving all the time is hard when I am with everyone.
We were finally able to see Dad and he looked terrible. His surgery went well but he was pretty miserable and in a lot of pain. Heidi and I stayed the night at Amy's and spent a lot of time in the hospital the next day then headed home.
Dad is recovering and stayed in the hospital for about 5 days. He has to have a colostomy bag and had a scare in the hospital because they took him off his heart medication but they got that figured out. He has a home nurse that comes everyday and he really is getting better everyday even though he still feels like it is the end of the world.
The day we came home was our third anniversary so I am glad we were home for that. We are going to Salt Lake for our anniversary and Kirk's birthday so we didn't do much celebrating but I am glad we were there to be with him. He made me this little surprise for me. So sweet!
I can't believe I get to be with him for eternity. He is the greatest and I am definitely the luckiest girl in the world.
I am so grateful to the doctor's and nurses that took such great care of Dad. It was a very scary time for all of us but the Lord was there and helped us with comfort and love for each other. I am so grateful for my family and how we all come together at times like these.

A skirt for the squirt ~ 3/26/12

Auntie Shannon crocheted Heidi an adorable skirt.
It is so perfect for her.

Burn baby burn ~ 02/01/12

I forgot to post this but I need to put it in so it will be a little out of order with the rest of the blog.
This morning we noticed that Kirk did not have a shirt to wear to work that was ironed so I quickly ironed one before he left. Instead of taking the ironing board out I just quickly ironed the shirt on the ground. Then I uplugged the iron and kept feeding Heidi breakfast.
When she was done eating I took her out of the highchair and started cleaning off the tray. The next thing I hear is Heidi screaming and I knew she touched the iron in the other room.
I rushed in there and found out that I was right. My heart dropped. My poor baby. I ran her hand under cold water for a few minutes but she really didn't like it. She was so tired so I gave er some milk and put her to bed. I think the burn set in then and really started hurting. She really needed to nap so I gave her some Benadryl and wrapped her fingers in a wet cloth. Then she slept for another 3 hours. I felt so horrible. It is the worst feeling to know that your baby is hurt because of your carlessness. I was heart broken. The rest of the day I kept her hand wrapped and then wrapped it with gauze and anti-biotic ointment for the rest of the healing.
I know I cannot stop her from being hurt all her life but I hate that it was my fault. =(

Moted on Mom ~ 2/29/12

Heidi loves to close doors.
Sometimes she goes into my bathroom and shuts herself in without the light on and then she gets nervous. She also will go into her bedroom and shut the door. I don't always save her right away in her room because she can play with her toys.
This time, however, there was a punishment.
Moted Mom.
And yes I did fill those wipes the day before.
