Testimony Fills My Heart~3/3/13

My sweet Heidi bore her testimony for the first time on Sunday.
It was amazing.
There was a family that bore their testimony and when their little 4 year old was bearing his Heidi said she wanted to do it and that it was her turn.
At first I thought I should tell her no because she can't do it by herself but then I decided that it was okay. I really don't want to squash her spirit and be discouraging when it comes to her testimony.
We had to wait for our turn on the stage but she stayed pretty reverent.
When it was her turn she did such a great job. She said she knows the church is true.
She loves her family.
She loves nursery. And
She loves Jesus.
We were so proud of her.
She spoke right into the microphone which I was a little worried about. I thought she might act shy when she got up there and saw everyone but she didn't get nervous at all.
We are so grateful to have these sweet girls in our home and family.
Watching them grow and learn everyday is so awesome!

10 fingers? 10 toes~2/28/13

So today I had a traumatic experience.
I was making dinner and slicing potatoes to bake. We got a super great mandolin for Christmas and it is such a wonder when it comes to slicing food. The only problem is that it is VERY sharp!
So there I was slicing potatoes and it was more than once that I thought about being careful and watch my fingers.
Then...I wasn't careful.
Next thing I know I have sliced my finger. Badly. And bleeding like crazy.
I automatically stuck my finger under the cold water and grabbed my phone to call Kirk.
It was quite lucky that he was on his way home already. He did have a home health appointment but I told him I sliced my finger and needed him to come home first.
I am the luckiest girl in the world to have such a caring husband.
I put some pressure on it and waited for Kirk.
He called his home health and told her that he thought he had to take me to get stitches so they would have to reschedule.
I didn't have to get stitches but he did need to wrap it really well so it would stop bleeding and start healing.
It hurt like crazy!!!!!
I turn into such a baby when things like this happen to me so I of course was crying.
The only thing that stopped the tears was when Heidi would walk into the room because I didn't want to scare her or worse make her throw up.
My amazing husband sat by my side and just let me cry and told me I didn't have to apologize for being a baby.
Kirk found the piece of my finger that was no longer attached to my body and had to snap a few pictures of it.
I still haven't actually looked at my finger so we'll see how it heals. We still have it wrapped and it still hurts but that is going away slowly but surely. I have been taking ibuprofen in the morning and before bed because that is when it hurts the worst. I also have to be really careful not to bump it cause that really kills.
It is hard work to do all my daily activities with out full use of my right hand but I am making do and Kirk is super helpful.
Here's to deformed fingers!
That is Kirk's normal finger and my severed tip. Don't worry, we still ate the potatoes. Just not that one. =)

Family Treat~2/25/13

Heidi is so into Family Night lately.
I think it's mostly for the treat. Family treat. But we will take what we can get.
She really does like the lessons too and pays attention as long as her 2 year old brain can handle.
This time we roasted marshmallows and had smores.
She was in heaven!

I made Daddy take a picture since I'm usually holding Alice and the camera and we don't usually make it in pictures. =)

4 Months!!~2/25/13

My darling Alice Lue is 4 months old.
It has flown by. I still look at her and see my sweet newborn.
She has grown so much. Too much.
She still rolls over from belly to back with ease. She is almost rolling over to her tummy especially when she is trying to crane her neck to look at something.
She is starting to get really strong and can grasp her toys so well.
She loves to stare at and suck on her hands.
She is starting to grab at stuff too.
She doesn't sleep through the night but has gone 4-5 hours sometimes between eating.
I usually put her to bed around 730 or 8. She usually eats then I sing a song and lay her in her bed. She usually falls asleep by herself.
She ends up in my bed at night because I am too tired to care and put her back in her bed.
She takes 3 or so naps during the day.
She LOVES to watch her sister.
She is super ticklish on her ribs.
Baths are still not her favorite thing but she tolerates them very well.
She does great in the shower with Mommy or Daddy.
She still spits up but what can you do.
She likes to be outside.
 She travels like a champ.
She likes to bury her face in her blanket when she sleeps.
She talks all the time and loves when we repeat her noises.
She still doesn't like to be left alone.
This little girl has blessed our family and our lives so much. We are so happy to have her and love watching her grow up and learn.
Her 4 month check up isn't until March 8th so I will post about that later.

Roller Derby~2/24/13

Uncle James was home for a few weeks from fishing in Alaska. We weren't able to see him while he was home until the day he was leaving. We rushed to Logandale for dinner at 1pm. We stopped in Alamo to watch the Stake Conference broadcast.
We had a great time at dinner with the family.
The girls LOVED playing with their cousins.
We will miss you Uncle James. Be safe.

Heidi found the twins' skates.
Alice and her cousin, Ollie. I'm so glad they are so close in age.

3 Generations~2/23-24/13

We were very lucky to have Grandma and Grandpa Great come visit us this weekend.
Heidi had such a great time showing them all her tricks and Alice loved the cuddles. Unfortunately the weather turned a little bad but we still had a great time.
We can't wait to see them again.
 Reading to Grandma Great
Hiking in Cathedral Gorge. Heidi was loving these caves. She kept asking Grandma Great if she was okay.
I'm pretty sure the girls won their hearts. And they definitely made the girls' weekend.

President's Day Moab~2/14-18/13

This year for President's Day we went to Moab with the Player Group.
We left on Valentine's Day after Kirk got home from work so our romantic V-Day dinner was sandwiches in the car. =) The girls did get balloons from Daddy which made their day. And Daddy got footprint molds from the girls. We drove to Emery that night and I was surprised with a basket of delicious treats including caramel apples, chocolate dipped strawberries, fudge and other stuff. Yum!
The next day was Friday and Kirk had an interview with a Clinic in Price so we went to lunch with that guy. We are hoping to move to Price this June. Alice got to come with Mommy and Daddy to lunch while Heidi stayed home with Grandpa. I put her down for a nap before we left but she wasn't quite asleep yet. Apparently Grandpa tried and tried to get her to sleep but to no avail. He even laid down with her for a little bit to which she responded 'This is funny, Grandpa'. So eventually he gave up. =)
After lunch we headed to Moab. The Timmons Family ended up getting sick so they couldn't come. The Robinson Family was also sick and weren't sure if they were going to make it so Friday night was just us and the grandparents. We stayed in a really nice vacation condo rental. Since we were the only ones there we got the master bedroom. This NEVER happens since the girls usually claim rank and call the best bedroom accommodations. Heidi even had her very own spot to sleep in the walk-in closet. She sleeps in a big girl beds when she's not at home. We would already have her in one at home if we had room but what can you do. =)
Saturday we got up and went for a bike ride. I rode 16 miles total. It was so much fun. Kirk rode less but he went on a single track that was much harder. I needed to stay on the paved path since I was pulling the bike trailer and had Alice with me. Grandma and Grandpa followed me. Grandpa turned around after a couple miles to move the truck and Grandma, the babes and I met him at the bottom. When we got to the bottom we turned around and went back up the hill so we could watch Kirk come down the steep part of his ride. Grandpa followed us back up. Then we gave the girls to the grandparents and Kirk and I pedaled back to the condo. It was a great ride. After the ride we did a little shopping. Heidi got a Kokopelli keychain. Grandpa even gave her an old key for it. She was very excited. While we were shopping the Robinsons got there. Then we went to dinner at Eddie McStiff's. It was pretty good.
Sunday we just lounged for awhile then everyone wanted to do another bike ride. It was really cold that day so I stayed home with baby Alice. They found a really cool harmonic park. When they got home I put the girls down for a nap and went for a little run. It turned out to be a pretty nice day by then and a run on the trail through Moab was very nice.
After my run we all decided to go swimming in the neighborhood pool. When we got to the pool a lady was there with her dogs. When I walked in she quickly took her dogs out of the pool and hid them in the bathroom. I couldn't believe she had them in the water. You could see the dog hair floating on the water. So gross. Swimming was pretty fun though. It was Alice's first time and she did great. I didn't keep her in too long because I don't like too much chlorine on her skin and didn't want ehr to get cold but she liked it while we were in the water. Heidi was such a little fish and didn't want to get out of the pool no matter how badly she was shivering. Luckily Daddy was willing to play with her as much as she wanted. Damian threw up. I think because of the dog hair. Then the day took a bad turn. Damian wanted to have Uncle Kirk spin into the deep end of the pool. So they both got out of the water and headed to the deep end with Heidi in hot pursuit. I was already down there getting Alice warmed up. Dayna was in the shallow end with Joey in the water and Jeremy and Grandpa and Grandma were sitting on chairs next to the shallow end. We were all paying attention to Uncle Kirk and Damian when Dayna looked over toward Joey and started screaming. Joey was face down in the pool. I think all of our hearts stopped until Dayna grabbed him. We aren't really sure what happened but it looked like he had been hanging on the edge of the pool like he had seen Damian do and just slipped. I don't think he was under for very long. When Dayna grabbed him he was crying and screaming which was a good sign. Dayna just held him and he finally calmed down but wouldn't talk. He just wanted to lay there with his mom. I knew that this could be bad and develop a fear of water later in life so I told her that since he was calmed down that she needed to get him back in the water so that he knew it was still okay. He did really well. He cried some but you can't really expect much less. We also made sure he got a bath that night so he was in the water again. Poor kid! I'm not sure Dayna ever quit shaking for the rest of the night.
That night Kirk and I both took turns in the hot tub and then I went to bed early. Monday we got packed up and headed back to Cleveland. Kirk had another interview so we went to lunch with that guy then we headed back to Panaca. We had such an amazing trip. Thanks to Grandpa and Grandma for inviting us!!
 Building a mountain with Daddy.

The quilt Grandpa made for Heidi with the material we got in Switzerland.
Playing with Grandma's I-patch as Heidi calls it.
 Getting ready to go.
Saying goodbye to Daddy. He is going on the hard ride. Heidi is not.

Daddy's hard ride.
 Lounging with Uncle Jeremy.
Playing with the new guns Grandma got the big boys. Heidi was strong enough to shoot it all by herself. We all had to watch out or we might get shot.

 The harmonic park.

Swimming with our little fish.
