So I haven't even written anything about this pregnancy and I feel terrible about it. Since I am due in 2.5 weeks I figured I'd get it all written down before this babe comes.
In February I started to feel a few symptoms of pregnancy. I was sick and threw up a couple times which was weird for me since I didn't have symptoms like that with Heidi so we weren't convinced it was pregnancy. Then on February 27th I could not get comfortable when we went to bed. I felt like I had restless leg syndrome throughout my entire body. It was really uncomfortable. Kirk stayed awake with me until I fell asleep. (I don't know what I would do without him.)
On March 2nd I took a pregnancy test and sure enough, it was positive.
We were so excited. And we were happy that there was a reason for all the barfy feelings I was having. That night we went to one of the only restaurants in Lincoln County, The Brandin' Iron, to celebrate.
We decided to keep it a secret for awhile just to enjoy it as a family and just to be sure nothing went wrong. For our anniversary and Kirk's bday we went to Salt Lake and while we were there we picked up a 'I'm the Big Sister' t-shirt for Heidi. That's how we decided to share the news with everyone.
Easter weekend we went to St. George for Saturday and Heidi wore her shirt. Grandma asked what her shirt meant. We asked her what she thought it meant. They were all very excited!
The following weekend we went to Logandale. We had an appointment that day and needed my parents to watch Heidi while we went into Vegas. We put Heidi in her Big Sister shirt and they never noticed. We weren't telling them we were going to Vegas but had to say something since it was time for us to go to our appointment. I finally told my mom to look at her shirt. They were finally quite excited.
On June 5th we had our ultrasound and found out that she's a girl. Neither one of us was really hoping for one over the other so we were very happy. Now it's even better to think that Heidi will have a little sister. The US tech wasn't my favorite and she wasn't really sure the baby was a girl so I didn't really believe her until we had our next ultrasound.
We also found out that we have a low placenta so we had to watch that.
So far I have gained the same amount of weight as I did with Heidi and I am 38 weeks right now so we'll see.
The first 16 weeks were really terrible with morning sickness. I didn't have anything like that with Heidi so it was difficult. I know there are woman who have it so much worse (Amy and Emily) but to me it was really awful. I would throw up usually at least once a day. I really hate to throw up. I was also super super tired! Going through the summer kicked my butt. When I was preggers with Heidi I was able to stay in an office all day and didn't have to deal with the heat but now that Heidi is almost 2 she wants to go to the park and on walks every day so that was difficult. I was also struggling with over-heating and light-headedness when I would exercise so I had to stop running. That was very tough on me but the walks every day with Heidi helped keep me somewhat active.
Around Labor Day I had my first bout with heartburn. I actually didn't know what it was but it was something horrible. I finally thought about heartburn and told Kirk I thought I was having antacid. He got a good little chuckle out of that one. I'd never experienced it before! Give me a break! =)
Emily saved me and told me to get some Tums and that has made a huge difference. I have to take a couple of them almost every night before bed but that's ok. I haven't been sleeping very well either which is also new for me. I clearly can't sleep on my tummy. Laying on my back makes me light-headed and sleeping on my sides make my hips ache so really there's not much relief.
This pregnancy has had more problems than I had with Heidi but I still know that I have it easy compared to others.
Heidi will point to my tummy when we ask her where the new baby is. She talks to her sometimes too. Lately she has decided that the baby's name should be "Christ, Amen". Um...
She's just really spiritual.
Truly, I am not sure she really understands but we talk about it anyway. She'll get it when she's here, I guess.
She really doesn't like coming to doctor appointments with me. It makes her worried to see Mommy with even the blood pressure cuff on. Luckily Dr. Harter usually has a sucker for her.
I am now 38 weeks and everything is going great. I am measuring a little small but Dr. Harter thinks that just means she has dropped. I agree because it has become easier to breathe. =)
We are so excited to meet this little girl and can't wait for her to be part of our family.
Here I am at 33 weeks.
